LSU vs. Mississippi State
Game Preview

by Chris Wilson

Saturday afternoon’s SEC match up between the LSU Tigers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs seems like it would be a walk in the park for LSU who goes into their second SEC game at 3-1 overall and 0-1 in conference. Coming off of a huge homecoming win against Tulane to the tune of 49-7, the Tigers look to come out strong and keep the momentum as they aim to clinch their first conference win.

This will be no easy task despite Mississippi State’s less then admirable record of 1-3 overall and 0-2 in SEC play. The Bulldogs will surely come into Tiger Stadium with the underdog label on their back and play inspired football as they intend to turn their season around. Rallying off of an overtime win over UAB last Saturday, the ‘dogs will be ready for a fight. But they will have to do this against a stout defense, which is ranked No.2 in yards allowed, giving up only 152 yards per game. The defense also yields two players, Craig Steltz and Jonathan Zenon who are both tied for first in the SEC in interceptions.

The Tigers, behind the arm of JaMarcus Russell face up against the third starting quarterback Omar Conner and the Bulldogs Saturday September 26th, in Tiger Stadium. The action gets kicked off at 11.30 a.m.
