Currently, I am showing you a series of burger recipes
to prove that they do not just have to be your regular
run-of-the-mill fast food burgers. Last week I gave you
the French onion burger, and this week we will visit the
recipe for a Mexican hamburger. Ok, so it is not really
a Mexican burger, but more of a burger with a taco
twist. If any of you have made tacos at home with the
kits you can buy in the store you know that it is pretty
simple. Well all you do here is incorporate those same
flavors into the burger.
The
ground beef is seasoned with a pack of taco seasoning
mix, with about one pack of seasoning for 1 lb of meat.
You can add some chopped jalapeños for a little spice.
Remember though, all the heat in the pepper lies in the
seeds and the white ribs lining the walls of the pepper.
If you do not like your food to be too spicy, then take
out both of these parts, and chop up the jalapeño from
there.
Instead of ketchup, here we use a little taco sauce as a
condiment to pour on top of the cooked meat patty. In
the cheese section of the store there are packs of
Mexican shredded cheeses that can be used on the burger.
Or for a little added heat you can melt some pepper jack
cheese on top. Top this off with a bit of shredded
lettuce and diced tomato, and there you have it-a taco
burger.
Ingredients
1
lb. ground beef
1
pack taco seasoning mix
2
tbsp chopped jalapeño (optional)
4
tsp. taco sauce
1cup Mexican shredded cheeses
1
cup shredded lettuce
1
cup diced tomato
Season the meat with the pack of seasoning. Mix well,
but again, do not over mix. Shape into patties.
Cook patties in a skillet over medium heat to desired
doneness.
Once cooked, place each patty on your bun of choice.
Pour about 1 tsp of sauce on each patty.
Finish the burger off with about ¼ c. of each the
cheeses, lettuce, and tomato.
These flavors are very fun to play around with. You can
add/take away ingredients as you please and it would
still be good because it is different. Next time we will
visit a more figure-friendly recipe-a turkey burger. |
