Watching music videos on
BET you may see dances like the walk it out, the chicken
noodle soup and the motorbike. These dances start from
local cities and make it to mainstream when put in a
music video.
Baton Rouge music artists
may not have made it to mainstream, but local dances
done in B.R. are so HOT that they should be known
nationwide. Some popular B.R. dances are the "jig," "the
ratchet," "break ya back," and one of the newest dances
called the "lolli-gag."
Explaining how to do
these dances is nearly impossible. But, all you have to
do is go to a club once and you will see people doing
all of these dances. If the club is not playing songs
such as Wipe Me Down by Foxx and Zoom by Lil Boosie, you
may not see people doing these dances.
Just like DJ UNK has
almost everyone in the country doing the walk it out,
Lil Boosie has many people in Baton Rouge and
surrounding areas doing the ratchet. One SPANKIN NEW
dance that is super HOT is the "lolli-gag." It was made
up by the local rap group Da Future.
If you go to a party and
hear a song called the Lollygag look for a member of Da
Future, or fan of Da Future if you want to learn the
dance. It’s HOT! Da Future recently performed the "Lolli-gag"
song at the LSU Alpha’s Miss Black and Gold Pageant. As
they performed many people in the audience got up and
did the dance along with the group.
Dances called the skip
and work your elbows are from Baton Rouge’s neighboring
city, New Orleans. These dances are being done more and
more in Baton Rouge clubs as New Orleans songs get heard
in B.R.
If you really want to
learn these HOT dances contact me! I know how to do them
all.
